The advantages of e-mail marketing are manifold. Measurability of results and addressee customization are chief among them.

The main disadvantage of e-mail marketing is related to the danger of it being perceived as spam. Spamming people not only damages the image of the sender, but is in many cases illegal. Spam is often filtered and thus mass e-mails run the risk of never reaching the intended addressee.
